Introducing Tutoring to Students

When introducing tutoring or answering questions from students, a few simple messages help:

  • Your tutor is part of your learning team.
  • Tutoring helps you practice skills, build confidence, and make progress.

Encourage Consistent Attendance

  • Connect tutoring to class goals.
  • Give quick reminders before sessions.
  • Ask students: "What did you learn in tutoring this week?"
  • Recognize consistent attendance and effort.

Help Students & Families Get Support Quickly

Teachers are often the first people students and families turn to for help. You don't need to troubleshoot issues yourself — just knowing where to direct people keeps students engaged and avoids missed sessions.

  • "When is my tutoring session?" — students can view their tutoring schedule on their Launch Pad.
  • "I need a different tutoring time." — families can submit a Schedule Request Form (subject to availability and school approval).
  • "I need help logging in or accessing tutoring." — direct students and families to the K12 Tutoring Help Center and support resources.
