A skills session lets you practice any topic you choose — no homework problem needed. Just tell Beacon by K12 Tutoring what you want to work on, and it will guide you through a focused session built around that skill.
How to start a skills session

Go to your homepage
Log in to Beacon by K12 Tutoring. Your dashboard loads with your current assignment at the top and the Want to work on something else? section below it.

Type a subject or skill into the chat box
Click the chat box that says Tell us what you're working on, or upload an image… and type the topic you want to practice. Be as specific or as broad as you like — Beacon by K12 Tutoring will adapt.

Send your message
Press Enter or click the green send button. Beacon by K12 Tutoring will start a focused session on your chosen topic right away.
What happens during a skills session
Once you send your topic, Beacon by K12 Tutoring creates a session tailored to that skill. It will ask you questions, give hints when you're stuck, and walk you through the concepts step by step — just like a homework session, but driven entirely by you.
